Giants’ Arvell Reese gets RoboCop comparison from analyst during first training camp

The New York Giants have been hard at work in training camp as they look to end their long slump and make a deep run in the upcoming season.

All eyes are on quarterback Jaxson Dart, who will enter his sophomore season amid high expectations. Coach John Harbaugh will also be under the microscope in his first year with the Giants.

While Dart will carry the offense, the defense remains a question mark for New York. Linebacker Arvell Reese could be the answer. The No. 5 pick has been impressive since the OTAs, and he has continued to do so in training camp.

ESPN’s Peter Schrager included the 20-year-old Reese in his list of top five “impact rookies.” He also had a perfect comparison for the 6-foot-4, 241-pound newcomer.

“Arvell Reese looks like RoboCop. He’s enormous, with huge arms, and he has this entire look to him where you’re like, ‘OK, that guy is playing inside linebacker next to Tremaine Edmunds. They both look like they’re absolute beasts in the middle,” said Schrager on “The Pat McAfee Show.”

“What they’re seeing is Reese doesn’t talk. Doesn’t say a word. He’s just in the facility all day long, studying and getting better and nailing guys, dominating games as a rookie.”

Schrager added that the 2o-year-old Reese makes it feel like it is a “new era” for the Giants, describing him as a “culture-setter.”

His rave review of the former Ohio State standout should further excite the fans, who have been thirsty for success. The Giants have been to the playoffs only twice in the last 14 years.

Reese could see plenty of action when the Giants open their preseason schedule against the Minnesota Vikings on Saturday.
