Gary Anderson’s 12-year-old son signs multi-year darts deal to follow in father’s footsteps

Gary Anderson’s 12-year-old son Tai has signed a multi-year deal with darts manufacturer L-Style.

The youngster has been recognised for his performances at Junior Darts Corporation (JDC) events.

Tai has been playing on the PDC affiliate tour over the last year, with events open to players aged between 10 and 18.

He has now taken the next step in following in his father’s footsteps on the oche.

L-Style will provide products for Tai over the coming years as he continues his darting journey.

Current PDC stars Ryan Searle and Mike De Decker are amongst those already sponsored by the company.

The firm confirmed the deal in an announcement on social media.

In a post on X, they wrote: “Locked in. Tai Anderson signs a multi-year deal with L-style!

“He’s trusted our gear by choice for years. Now we’re officially backing his career alongside his Unicorn tungsten.

“The Anderson pedigree speaks for itself. Let’s get to work, Tai!”

Anderson plans to face son

Anderson himself is a two-time world champion after winning the PDC World Darts Championship in 2015 and 2016.

Those victories are amongst his eight PDC premier event wins, with the Flying Scotsman having 54 PDC titles to his name.

The 55-year-old Scot has even revealed he wants to play until he is 60 so he can hopefully face Tai at Alexandra Palace.

Anderson said: “I was having a laugh with Tai. The way wee Tai’s playing now and I do not practise with him. He does it all himself. He puts in his own practice.

“Monday night, he plays in a pub, a tournament. Tuesday, he plays for a pub. Thursday, he plays JDC. Friday, he plays for a pub. And Saturday, Sunday, he plays tournaments and he does it all off his own back.

“We might have an odd game of 121 for about 10 minutes and that’s it, but, I tell you what, if I can keep going to 60, he might be on that stage, I might get a shot at him.

“There is a chance, yeah. If I make 60 and can stand upright, but there is a chance.

“I mean, the way he’s going, I think he’s about 1,600 points clear at the JDC on the things that they do over the eight or 12 weeks. He’s going alright.”

The JDC season is headlined by the JDC World Darts Championship.

Alexandra Palace hosts the final during the PDC World Darts Championship each year.

Former champions include Luke Littler, with the world No.1 winning back-to-back titles in 2022 and 2023.

Scotland’s Mitchell Lawrie is the current holder after beating Kaya Baysal in December.
