Former UFC fighter Anthony Smith breaks silence after his recent domestic violence arrest
Former UFC fighter Anthony Smith was reportedly arrested on multiple felony charges last month in Jul. 2026. According to a report by TMZ, the 38-year-old Smith was arrested in the state of Nebraska on three felony charges.
The TMZ report further noted that Smith was also facing charges for terroristic threats, false imprisonment [first degree], and domestic violence causing serious bodily injury. Another report by MMA Fighting later confirmed that Smith remained in custody at the Sarpy County Jail. Later, on Wednesday, Jul. 29, 2026, MMA Junkie issued a report where Sarpy County (Neb.) Attorney’s Office’s statement was shared. It noted that following Smith’s initial hearing in front of a judge, he was granted a $500,000 bond and the condition that he’d stay away from his wife.
Now, after weeks of his arrest and initial hearing, Smith has finally broken his silence regarding the matter. “Happy to be home with my household full of “whys”. I’ll be able to tell my story someday soon. Until then…you guys just keep making it up as you go
‘Character is revealed in chaos,'” Smith wrote on social media while sharing a photo of his family.
While the situation escalated, his wife took his side in the public and claimed that he’d never hurt her. “There’s not a lot I can say right now,” Mikhala Renee Newman said on social media using her private Instagram account. “I love Anthony with every ounce of my being. He is a good man, a great dad, and an incredible husband who loves us endlessly. Anyone that knows him can attest to that. They made a mental health struggle into something it wasn’t. I am safe and always was safe. He would never hurt me. Ever. I called for help to protect him from himself.” (The above quotes are from BloodyElbow)
