Alessandro Costa has received a late call to make his eighth promotional appearance at UFC 329.

Costa, who has claimed a knockout in all four of his UFC victories, replaces Ode Osbourne to fight Cody Durden, thus completing the full bout order for the Las Vegas card.

Osbourne was set to fight Durden in the opening fight of UFC 329, headlined by Conor McGregor‘s return against Max Holloway, but pulled out of the show last week.

Durden claimed Osbourne had ‘officially went running’ and no reason was given for the latter’s inability to compete, but the UFC have since found a replacement in Costa.

Durden announced the news on his Instagram, adding Dana White‘s promotion gave him a new four-fight contract on top of a new opponent.

The 35-year-old from Georgia, US, has competed in the UFC 16 times, recording the only draw of his professional career in his 2020 promotional debut.

He has scored victories over the likes of Charles Johnson, Jake Hadley and Matt Schnell in the UFC, while falling to prominent names such as Muhammad Mokaev and current flyweight king Joshua Van.

Costa, meanwhile, punched his ticket to the UFC through White’s Contender Series in 2022.

The Brazilian-born Mexican has won four of his seven UFC appearances, earning a Performance of the Night bonus in three of his victories.

His fight with Durden is still expected to kick off one of the biggest cards of the year in UFC 329, which takes place at Las Vegas’ T-Mobile Arena on July 11.

Who else is fighting at UFC 329?

Aside from a star-studded headliner to welcome McGregor back to the promotion, UFC 329 features arguably some of the best talent from head to toe on a card so far this year.

In the co-main event, lightweight stars Paddy Pimblett and Benoit Saint Denis battle it out to see who will edge closer to a shot at Justin Gaethje‘s title.

Pimblett hasn’t fought since suffering his first UFC defeat to Gaethje.

‘The Baddy’ has vowed to make a statement against Saint Denis to get a rematch with the American, who defeated Ilia Topuria at UFC White House to win the belt earlier this month.

Also on the main card, Briton Lone’er Kavanagh attempts to climb the ladder at flyweight in the toughest test of his career as he takes on fellow top-ranked 125lbs star Brandon Royval.

Elsewhere at UFC 329, highly-rated American heavyweight prospect Gable Steveson makes his promotional debut.

Furthermore, Robert Whittaker makes his first appearance as a light heavyweight and Pimblett’s teammate Luke Riley attempts to extend his undefeated record to 14-0.
