Fever’s Stephanie White breaks down 4th-quarter run without Caitlin Clark

The Indiana Fever saw their four-game winning streak end after falling short against the Atlanta Dream, 108-101, at Gainbridge Fieldhouse on Thursday.

The Fever trailed by as much as 12 points in the second half before going on a surge in the fourth quarter, including a 9-0 blast to tie the game, 93-93, with five minutes left. The Dream, however, stayed composed and staved off Indiana, with Rhyne Howard hitting clutch buckets.

Indiana fell to 9-6, while Atlanta improved to 10-4.

The Fever made their run when Caitlin Clark was on the bench due to foul trouble. For coach Stephanie White, it was a positive takeaway from their defeat.

“I thought that group really dug in on the defensive end of the floor. Got stops, we rebounded it well, and we moved it on offense. We made it a little bit more difficult (for the Dream) because the ball got side to side. We got some higher-quality looks and knocked them down,” explained White in the video posted by Sportskeeda’s Arhaan Raje.

Kelsey Mitchell and Aliyah Boston combined for 19 of the Fever’s 23 points in the fourth quarter. Mitchell poured in 13 of her 26 points in the said period.

Clark also logged 26 points, but she failed to score in the final quarter, losing her momentum after being forced to sit out for an extended stretch. She also had seven assists and five turnovers.

The loss spoiled the debut of Clark’s signature shoe, which she had been teasing for several weeks.

The Fever will try to exact revenge against the Dream on Saturday.
