Exclusive: How John Krasinski, Jim Halpert would handle Celtics, 76ers’ playoff exits
In real life, former The Office star John Krasinski is a Boston Celtics fan, while his Pennsylvania-born character in the show was a Philadelphia 76ers fan.
Ironically, the worlds collided in the 2026 NBA Playoffs. The Celtics held a 3-1 lead before blowing it to the 76ers. Speaking to ClutchPoints about his upcoming movie, Jack Ryan: Ghost War, conducted the morning of Game 7 between the teams, Krasinski was just happy to see the Celtics potentially have a crack at the New York Knicks.
“No, I mean, here’s the deal: they’re both such incredible teams, so if they played each other it would be just good for everyone who’s a basketball fan.”
The Sixers advanced to face the Knicks, but how would Jim Halpert react to their eventual loss? Krasinski doesn’t appear to think Jim would even be watching, given his responsibilities as a dad.
“I mean, he’s now in Austin, so I think he’s fine,” Krasinski explained. “I think he would just be loving watching sports of any kind from whatever time he has between the kids.”
Celtics fan John Krasinski believes 76ers fan Jim Halpert is still happy after The Office’s finale

One thing is for sure: Krasinski believes Jim and Pam recovered from their marital issues in the ninth season of The Office. By all accounts, it sounds like Jim is a family man once again. These days, he is likely choosing to spend time with Pam and the kids over watching sports.
Jim and Pam moved to Austin, Texas, so he could resume his work at Athleap, a sports marketing firm he co-founded. This finally moved the Halperts out of Scranton, where they had lived their whole lives.
As noted, the 76ers ended up beating the Celtics, pushing the series to seven games and closing it out in Game 7. However, despite their heroics, they were swept by the Knicks in the following round. This put an emphatic end to their playoff dreams.
