Ex-player drops ‘inevitable’ truth bomb that will catch Guardians fans’ attention
The Kansas City Royals are playing good baseball right now. The Detroit Tigers are still a good team despite Tarik Skubal’s injury. While the Cleveland Guardians have not played their best baseball in recent action, counting the defending American League Central champions out is always risky. Former player Trevor Plouffe understands that, as he called the Guardians “inevitable” during a recent episode of Talkin’ Baseball.
Plouffe and Talkin’ Jake were discussing the Royals’ recent success. However, the former player then said the quiet part out loud about Cleveland.
“But here’s the thing,” Plouffe said, “the Guards are just kind of inevitable… Detroit, with losing Skubal, that kind of opens up the AL Central.”
Every team in the AL Central is currently separated by 1.5 games or less. The Guardians and Tigers lead the division with 17-18 records, while the Royals are a half-game back and the White Sox are a game back. Meanwhile, the Twins are a game and a half behind the first place squads.
It is truly anybody’s division for the taking right now, but the Guardians have been the most consistent ball club in the AL Central in recent years. Cleveland has won the division in three out of the past four seasons.
The Guardians feature a respectable team as well, although the offense has underperformed. Nevertheless, they are a ball club that simply finds ways to win baseball games.
Cleveland will play the Royals in Kansas City on Wednesday night in the third contest of a four-game series.
