The Los Angeles Angels have a star slugger this season in outfielder Jo Adell. Adell is getting praise from a former Angels player. Tim Salmon gave Adell his flowers while having a conversation with the Foul Territory Network.

“I give all the credit in the world to his (Adell’s) hitting to Chili Davis,” Salmon said, per HaloTerritory.

Davis, also a former player for the Angels, worked with Adell on his swing.

“I just credit him in so many ways,” Salmon continued about Adell. “…..he was brought up before he should have been brought up. He was put on the stage and he failed epically. Offensively, defensively, every aspect of the game. It takes a special person to be able to withstand that, and still have the confidence to go out there and improve every year and be where he is at today.”

This season, Adell is hitting at a .315 batting average. He has two home runs and eight RBIs for the Angels. Los Angeles has a 9-9 record on the year.

Angels’ Jo Adell has worked hard to prepare for the 2026 season

Adell has spoken openly before the start of the season about his wishes to improve at the plate. The Angels outfielder worked intensely during the offseason on his swing.

The outfielder is coming off a stellar 2025 season. Adell set a career-high for home runs, with 37 homers during the 2025 campaign. He also batted in 98 runs, another career-high.

This year, the outfielder is also improving his defense. In a recent game against the Seattle Mariners, Adell made not one but three incredible plays in the outfield. He robbed Seattle of three home runs.

“I’ve never seen three home run robberies in one game, and I’ve never seen a guy on the third one fall into the stands, catch the ball and keep his feet in like he’s a wide receiver,” said Torii Hunter, a special assistant to the general manager, per the Associated Press. “I was jumping up and down. I almost passed out.”

The Angels are trying to end their long playoff drought in 2026. Los Angeles hasn’t made the postseason since 2014.
