After finishing joint-top during the group stages, tournament favourites Aston Villa cemented their place in the quarter-finals with an untroubled thumping of Lille across two legs.

Now, the Villans will turn their sights to a familiar foe in Serie A contenders Bologna.

Villa and Bologna have faced off twice in the last two years, with Villa claiming victory in both the Champions League and the Europa League group stages earlier this season.

Spurred on by the return of key players John McGinn and Youri Tielemans from injury, Unai Emery‘s side will undoubtedly be looking to go all the way.

Elsewhere, Nottingham Forest had their work cut out for them.

After losing 1-0 to Midtjylland in the first leg, Forest fought back fiercely in the second leg to take the Danish side to penalties, where they won 3-0.

In the next round, Forest will take on FC Porto, one of the more difficult teams remaining in the competition, in what is set to be a clash for the ages.

If both Aston Villa and Nottingham Forest progress, the two will then face each other in the semi-finals.
