England World Cup stars took on Brooks Koepka in pre-World Cup treat

Brooks Koepka joined members of England’s World Cup squad for a round of golf at their pre-tournament base.

The Three Lions are currently in Florida ahead of the start of this summer’s finals.

Thomas Tuchel has allowed his players plenty of time off away from training at their luxury hotel in West Palm Beach.

The site’s facilities include a golf course, where several England stars have spent their free time.

A group of them were joined by Koepka during a recent afternoon off.

John Stones, Jordan Pickford, Harry Kane, Elliot Anderson and Jason Steele teed it up alongside the five-time major champion.

Several members of the side are keen golfers, including Arsenal’s Declan Rice.

Meanwhile, captain Kane plays off scratch thanks to having a handicap of 0 or better.

Koepka surprise

Anderson revealed details of the round with Koepka during an interview with the FA’s social media team.

The Nottingham Forest midfielder explained: “We had a plus one, we had Koepka on and it was amazing.

“I think Harry sorted it. He must know him. It was mint, he was so good and he put me to shame. I was nervous on the tee box, but I did alright.”

Koepka is understood to be a football fan and lives in nearby Jupiter, Florida, close to England’s pre-tournament base.

The 36-year-old previously sported a Three Lions shirt at an event prior to their Euro 2024 final defeat to Spain.

His stunt saw him wind up Spanish golf stars Jon Rahm and Sergio Garcia before La Roja’s 2-1 win in Berlin two years ago.

Koepka has won the PGA Championship three times alongside two US Open victories in his career.

Meanwhile, he re-joined the PGA Tour in January three-and-a-half years after defecting to LIV Golf.

England’s World Cup preparations

The Three Lions’ Florida training camp also included their friendly victory over New Zealand on Saturday.

Following the narrow win in Tampa, England will take on Costa Rica in Orlando on Wednesday in their final warm-up fixture, live on talkSPORT.

Tuchel’s side begin their group stage campaign at the AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas against Croatia on Wednesday, June 17.

They also face Ghana and Panama as part of their group L schedule.

England will be based in Prairie Village, Kansas throughout this summer’s World Cup.

During the tournament, they are set to train at the Swope Soccer Village in nearby Kansas City, Missouri.
