Eddie Howe confirms Anthony Gordon may have played his last Newcastle game
Newcastle boss Eddie Howe has appeared to confirm that Anthony Gordon’s time at the club is over.
Gordon has been heavily linked with a move away from St. James’ Park this summer, and isn’t short of potential suitors.

Premier League duo Arsenal and Liverpool have both been credited with an interest in the forward.
However, German giants Bayern Munich appear to moved ahead in the race to sign the 25-year-old England international.
talkSPORT reported earlier this week that Bayern have agreed personal terms over a high-profile summer switch to the Bundesliga champions.
Bayern and Newcastle are yet to agree a fee for Gordon, though the general consensus is that it’s only a matter of time before a move to Germany is confirmed.
And ahead of Newcastle’s game against West Ham on Sunday, Howe has conceded that Gordon may have already played his last game for the club he joined from Everton in a 2023 £40m transfer.
“Anthony’s just come back from injury. The team has played well in his absence. And [he’s not been selected] with a partial view to the future,” the Newcastle boss said on Friday in his press conference.
“You’ve always got an eye on the future. The team, and everything [else] evolves so quickly.
“We are going into a transfer window with a lot of unknowns for us and there will be a feeling of change this summer.”

Gordon, who hasn’t featured for Newcastle since their 2-1 loss to Crystal Palace last month, was an unused sub in recent meetings with Brighton and Nottingham Forest.
‘He’s gone’
And a summer switch seems to be more likely than ever, with Newcastle fan Jack Cunningham stating that Gordon is off during a recent episode of Inside The Toon.
“He’s gone, he’s absolutely gone,” Cunningham said, while fellow guest Adam Clery added: “If you think back to the Alexander Isak stuff [in 2025], things being reported, there was a constant news cycle and you tell which party has put the information out to strengthen their side of it.
“The way this Bayern thing is so out there, there’s no pushback, no comment from the club or Gordon, I think you can tell that they just want that sorted as soon as possible.”
“I think it will happen before the World Cup,” Cunningham suggested. “That’s a thing for Newcastle as he could go there and increase his fee.
“But I just feel they want to avoid an Isak situation. It doesn’t have to be a bad exit for Gordon… but this season it doesn’t seem like he’s fully committed and that he turns up for games he wants to turn up for.”
Newcastle welcome West Ham to St. James’ Park on Sunday before seeing out a disappointing season with a trip to Fulham on the final day of the campaign.
