Draymond Green reveals truth about Spurs-Thunder Game 7

Four-time NBA champion Draymond Green could not care less about what tricks Oklahoma City Thunder coach Mark Daigneault or San Antonio Spurs coach Mitch Johnson have up their respective sleeves for tonight’s Western Conference Finals Game 7.

Green, who has taken part in half a dozen Game 7s in his career, was blunt in his assessment of the highly anticipated matchup.

“Who’s making the big adjustment? Daigneault or Johnson? Neither one of them. It don’t really matter. This is Game 7. This is Victor Wembanyama vs. Shai Gilgeous-Alexander. That’s what this is,” Green said on his podcast. “There’s no adjustment in Game 7 of the conference finals. There’s no adjustment. There’s no adjustment for Game 7 of the conference finals. Right?

“I think one of the biggest adjustments that has been made this series is how they were guarding SGA, doubling every single time, and crazy doubles from everywhere until — like, come on, man — let’s play boxes and elbows. Back to the basics. Double every now and then, keep them off balance. Right? I think that’s been one of the biggest adjustments, but there’s no adjustment for Game 7 from a coach. This is Game 7. This is players, this is what this is about.”

Each team in this series has won a single road game: the Spurs started things off by taking Game 1 in Oklahoma City, and the Thunder went ahead 2-1 with a Game 3 win in San Antonio. Since then, the teams have defended home court, with the Spurs tying the series in Games 4 and 6, and the Thunder earning a decisive win in Game 5 in OKC.

Tonight, Oklahoma City certainly hopes that that trend continues, along with its repeat bid. The defending champions and the Spurs will tip off at approximately 7 p.m. CT.
