Donald Trump calls out NFL for moving games to paid streaming platforms

As the NFL offseason continues and teams around the league make tweaks to their rosters via trade, free agency, and the draft, the league front office is also busy mulling changes for future seasons. One of the main talking points for fans around the league over the last couple of years has been the league’s gradual shift to streaming services to broadcast games, with many upset at having to pay for various different subscriptions just to watch their teams play.

One person joining in on the outrage is United States President Donald Trump, who recently spoke on the issue to Full Measure News.

“They’re making a lot of money. They could make a little bit less. … You have people that live for Sunday… and then all of a sudden, they’re gonna have to pay $1,000 a game. It’s crazy. So, I’m not happy about it,” said Trump, per Ari Meirov of The 33rd Team on X, formerly Twitter.

While fans might not have to pay quite $1,000 a game, it’s still been a frustrating time for those who are sick of having to pay for and log into several different platforms just to watch a game. The league has moved games onto Prime, Peacock, Netflix, and more over the last few seasons, and unfortunately, the trend doesn’t seem to show any signs of stopping anytime soon.

Of course, the NFL is not alone in this issue, as NBA fans are currently lambasting that league for their bizarrely-scheduled playoff games, which also take place across several streaming services.

In any case, the NFL is slated to release its schedule for the upcoming 2026 season on May 14.
