Dodgers’ Tyler Glasnow injury update will catch fans’ attention

The Los Angeles Dodgers have thrown heat without Tyler Glasnow for two weeks straight. Glasnow suffered some flare ups connected to his back spasms in the middle of May. Saturday’s update will catch fans’ attention.

Dodgers insider for The Athletic Fabian Ardaya dropped the update involving the veteran pitcher. Including sharing what manager Dave Roberts told him.

“Dave Roberts said Tyler Glasnow ‘hasn’t gotten over the hump’ to ramp up his throwing progression beyond playing catch. Back isn’t bothering him, per se, but hasn’t been able to let it rip,” Ardaya posted on the social media website X, formerly Twitter.

The right-hander worked out on the field back on May 13, suggesting Glasnow was making a return. But clearly he’s not 100% healthy just yet.

Los Angeles is witnessing other pitchers dominate amid Glasnow’s absence. Justin Wrobleski rose as one who turned heads, creating a no-hit bid against the Philadelphia Phillies Friday. Wrobleski watched the potential no-hitter evaporate in the sixth.  But LA pulled off the 4-2 win with Wrobleski striking out nine batters. He also walked no one through the first seven innings.

LA is making roster moves too amid the Glasnow injury. Santiago Espinal became a returnee, while Hyeseong Kim was optioned. The latter heads down to Triple-A affiliate Oklahoma City, but mostly after a poor stretch of games. Roberts made the decision to send him down in order for him to regain confidence.

Los Angeles is 37-20 overall and has won eight of its last 10 games. Philadelphia is 29-28 overall and second in its division.
