Dodgers’ Freddie Freeman hits career milestone with single vs. Pirates
Freddie Freeman has already amassed the requisite credentials for Cooperstown enshrinement. He is one of the best first baseman of his generation, a World Series MVP and three-time champion who has an .853 OPS across 79 playoff games, a regular season MVP, three-time Silver Slugger, nine-time All-Star and former Gold Glove winner. The 36-year-old has checked off so many boxes in his near-two-decade MLB run, but he is not done yet.
Freeman’s future plaque in the National Baseball Hall of Fame will look a bit more impressive following his latest achievement. He capped off a 10-run seventh inning for the Los Angeles Dodgers via an RBI single to center field, and in doing so, he recorded his 2,500th career hit. True to form, Freeman reaches a stellar milestone by notching a pure knock with a runner in scoring position.

The former Atlanta Braves cornerstone and current Dodgers great packs plenty of power in his bat — 377 home runs in 17 seasons and lays claim to two of the most legendary dingers in recent Fall Classic history — but his ability to smash a line drive up the middle or spray the ball to the opposite field is what makes him one of the most respected left-handed hitters of the 21st Century.
The immortal 3,000-mark might be out of reach given his age, but neither Father Time nor most of the active MLB pitching population have been able to figure out Freddie Freeman so far. No. 5 is batting .284 with 10 home runs, 16 doubles, a .366 on-base percentage and a .481 slugging percentage through 243 at-bats this season.
He leads all active players with 2,500 hits.
