Dodgers’ Dave Roberts says he could still bunt today, but there’s a Jacob Misiorowski catch

While the Los Angeles Dodgers are currently on the All-Star break, Dave Roberts is working more than ever, with the veteran skipper taking to Philadelphia to lead the National League team.

Now granted, Roberts isn’t alone in his extracurricular activities, as the Dodgers have six All-Stars representing the blue and white in the City of Brotherly Love from stalwarts like Freddie Freeman to newcomers Justin Wrobleski and Andy Pages, but the manager has it worse than most, as he has to be the spokesperson for an entire league before Tuesday’s game.

That includes doing media, and while discussing all things baseball, Doc was asked one simple question: could he still put down a bunt if his number was called? A ten-year MLB vet who won the World Series with the Boston Red Sox in 2004, Roberts noted he can still put the ball on the ground if need be, just so long as a certain Milwaukee Brewers pitcher isn’t on the mound.

“Absolutely. Hey, but as long as it’s not Misiorowski, then I can get it down,” Roberts declared. “No, but it’s like, the home run derby was great, the little thing, but I can still get a bunt down today.”

Putting the irony of Roberts ‘ sacrifice bunting to manufacture a run aside, as LA famously swings for the fences instead of trying to matriculate players around the diamond, the Dodgers skipper’s athleticism does have a history of helping his team win, as his famous race with Hyeseong Kim helped to galvanize the troops during the 2025 World Series. If Roberts can put one on the ground during NL All-Star practice, who knows? Maybe it will be enough to secure that win too.
