Dodgers’ Dave Roberts committing to Kyle Tucker lineup change

On Thursday, manager Dave Roberts made a crucial change to the Los Angeles Dodgers’ lineup, moving Kyle Tucker from second to fourth. It’s a strategy Roberts plans to lean on moving forward.

The outfielder is still trying to find his footing in Los Angeles. Roberts is hopeful a move down the order will restore some consistency in his bat, via Katie Woo of The Athletic.

“It’s more of just trying to give Kyle a different look,” Roberts said. “I think that he’s obviously going through it right now and not feeling great at the plate. So sometimes, the different visual, letting the game come to you a little bit before jumping in there in the two, changes your outlook and potentially the results.”

“It’s the total of the sum, in the sense that he’s just not comfortable,” he continued. “So trying to figure out a way to get him back to being who he is, and the successful hitter that he’s been, is the goal. So maybe a switch in the lineup, a different outlook, might change that.”

Through his first 24 games with the Dodgers, Tucker is hitting .245 with thee home runs, 13 RBIs and three stolen bases. Roberts is trying to jumpstart his production. In turn, the outfielder is willing to do whatever it takes to improve and help his team win.

“I think it’s more just me trying to find my swing, and trying to find the consistency in it more than anything,” Tucker said. “I’ve had some good swings. Sometimes, I just get a hit because I just happened to get a hit. But just trying to find the consistency with my swing and do it day in, day out.”

The Dodgers won their first game with their new lineup configuration 3-0 over the San Francisco Giants. Tucker went 2-for-4 with a run scored. As Los Angeles chases their third-straight World Series, Roberts has proven he isn’t afraid to shake things up.
