Darius Bazley gets cut by CBA team after wild outburst

During his time in the NBA, Darius Bazely was a bit of a journeyman, bouncing around from team to team. His most recent stint was with the Los Angeles Lakers last summer, during which he stood out at the NBA Summer League.

Nevertheless, he couldn’t make the cut and found himself playing in the Chinese Basketball Association. On March 7, he signed with the Ningbo Rockets.

However, his time came to an end after an on-court incident with a teammate, per Bryan Kalbrosky of For The Win/USA Today. During a game against the Shanghai Sharks, Bazley inbounded the ball to teammate Zavier Simpson, per CGTN Sports Scene. But it was immediately stolen by Kevin Zhang.

Zhang would convert on a 3-pointer. Afterward, Bazley, in a moment of pure frustration, intentionally threw the ball out of bounds instead of inbounding it to Simpson.

Ultimately, they began to argue on the sidelines. Then, Bazley shoved a teammate who tried to calm things down.

In the end, his contract with the Rockets was terminated.

Over the course of 12 games, Bazley averaged 4.9 points and 3.8 rebounds per game.

In 2019, Bazley was drafted by the Utah Jazz. Afterward, he was traded to the Oklahoma City Thunder and would play from 2019 to 2023.

In 2023, Bazley was traded to the Phoenix Suns but wasn’t used much, even as they reached the Western Conference Semifinals. Then, Bazley went from the NBA G League to the Philadelphia 76ers and then to the Jazz.

In all, he played one full month with the Rockets.
