Daniel Dubois’ trainer explains why Moses Itauma fight may not happen this year
Don Charles believes Daniel Dubois and Moses Itauma should and will be kept apart for at least 18 months.
Dubois scored an emphatic and impressive victory in a real classic with robust Fabio Wardley to become a two-time world champion.

Rising heavyweight talent Moses Itauma sat for ringside and watched on, given he will now likely be mandated to face Dubois next.
Itauma will first return on August 8 in a separate fight, but could feasibly tackle the challenge of ‘Dynamite’ at the back end of 2026.
Dubois could well face a rematch with Wardley but has yet to decide his next move.
But Dubois’ trainer Charles believes that a clash with Itauma should be put on hold now.
“He is a young fighter, he is the future. Frank Warren we trust, I think he will keep them apart for now,” he said on the latest episode of talkBOXING.
“Let them fight in a unification, Moses could go away and become a world champion.
“They could do it in 18 months, they are both signed to Frank. Track them.
“And provided we defend our title and maybe pick up another, make it a unification.”
Itauma is looking to challenge for a world title before the end of the year.
But he could take an alternative route, as he also holds high rankings with the IBF and WBA.
The belts could also fragment if Oleksandr Usyk is forced to vacate.
Dubois vs Wardley rematch – could it happen?
Dubois could well not be free to select an opponent next, with Wardley holding a contracted rematch clause should he choose to activate it.
The brutality of their first clash may mean both camps choose to go their separate ways.
But should it be made, Charles believes they will have no choice to accept and push for an even more dominant victory.
He continued: “It’s not our call to be honest.
