Cubs’ Alex Bregman stuns White Sox with walk-off hit in wild ending
Following Tuesday’s walk-off victory versus the Chicago White Sox, the words of a persistent, 39-year-old Jimmy Connors come to mind. “This is what they paid for. This is what they want.” The Chicago Cubs signed Alex Bregman to a five-year, $175 million contract to add high-level production and culture-changing leadership. Following a miserable first three months to his tenure in The North Side, the veteran third baseman has been rewarding the Ricketts family for its huge investment.
Bregman lifted the Cubbies to a 4-3 win versus the White Sox, recording the tying and winning singles in the seventh and ninth innings, respectively. He was instrumental to the National League Central club earning a comeback victory in extra innings on Monday — had three hits and helped Chicago even the score by drawing a clutch walk in the ninth — and he drives the knife into The South Side a little more than 24 hours later.
The 2019 MVP runner-up sent the ball to center field, and sent Carson Kelly to home plate.
Start singing, Cubs fans

A long, rain-filled evening in Wrigley Field ends via some Bregman heroics, which is exactly what fans want to see during this time of the year. The two-time World Series champion is making winning plays for a rising contender. If he can stay hot through October, then the Cubs may escape the Milwaukee Brewers’ shadow, dethrone the Los Angeles Dodgers and vanquish the rest of the NL’s fierce competition.
