Cubs acquire Kevin Gausman from Blue Jays before trade deadline
The Chicago Cubs failed to entice Tarik Skubal late Saturday night. But Chicago made up for losing Skubal to the Los Angeles Dodgers quickly on Sunday. The Cubs landed Kevin Gausman instead from the other World Series representative the Toronto Blue Jays.
Baseball insiders for The Athletic Ken Rosenthal and Mitch Bannon reported the move first. Fellow MLB insider Mark Feinsand adds that infielder Ty Southisene is included in this big deal before the MLB Trade Deadline passes. Outfielder Brett Bateman rose as one more talent heading to the American League champs.
Toronto gains a pair of top 25 prospects in exchange for Gausman. Fans immediately said their goodbyes to “Gaus” as the trade became completed.
