Chiefs insider drops bottom line on ‘huge upside’ of L’Jarius Sneed reunion
Recently, the Kansas City Chiefs made headlines when it was announced they would be signing former team cornerback L’Jarius Sneed to a contract. The move reunited Sneed with the team with whom he won two Super Bowls in 2022 and 2023.
Now, Chiefs insider Hayley Lewis of Bleacher Report has dropped a hot take about what this signing means for the Chiefs.
“Although it’s been a minute since he’s been in Kansas City, nobody has forgotten who he is… but now in 2026, is he the same player that he once was?… do the Chiefs really need him to be the exact same player?… To me, it seems like a very low-risk move with potentially huge upside. If Sneed can stay healthy, the Chiefs may have found one of the biggest bargain signings of the offseason,” said Lewis, per her account on X, formerly Twitter.
Sneed struggled immensely with injuries during his stint with the Tennessee Titans over the last two seasons, and it remains to be seen if he will be able to shake off those concerns now that he is back in Kansas City.
During his first stint with the Chiefs, Sneed made several huge plays, including forcing a fumble on Baltimore Ravens wide receiver Zay Flowers in the 2023 NFC Championship Game to help the Chiefs punch another ticket to the Super Bowl that year.
The Chiefs’ defense took a step back in 2025 after being dominant in the couple of years before that, and they have traded away some big names this offseason, including most notably Trent McDuffie to the Los Angeles Rams.
However, perhaps Sneed could be the missing piece to help Kansas City rekindle some of its old magic on that side of the ball.
