The Charles Schwab Challenge 2026 betting preview
The great Ben Hogan was a terrifying prospect – and not just when his peers were trying to beat him on the course.
The generation that followed Hogan’s years of success would talk of his tendency to wander along the driving range, stop, and then just stare at them.
In fact, it was worse than that because he’d merely stare at their swing while remaining stonily silent.
Given that he was probably the greatest swinger of a club in history, that habit was somewhat disconcerting.
And yet he was – and remains – revered on the PGA Tour and, especially, in Fort Worth, Texas.

It is there, at Colonial Country Club, that Hogan won the Charles Schab Challenge five times.
He is such a champion on the course’s tight and tree-lined fairways that it is, to this day, often called Hogan’s Alley, and it has traditionally been a tremendous track for punters because those narrow holes suit a distinct set of golfers.
The tournament might not be a PGA Tour Signature Event, but that does not diminish it in the eyes of those who respect heritage.
But who are the best bets? Let’s find out.
The Charles Schwab Challenge 2026 betting tips
Here are some key betting tips and insights for the harles Schwab Challenge 2026.
Gary Woodland to win
This has been a redemptive season for the 2019 US Open champion who was diagnosed with a brain tumour in 2023.
It was only in March of this year that he revealed that he has been suffering from PTSD in the wake of his recovery from an operation and within days of doing so he won the Houston Open at Memorial Park.
That course was designed by John Bredemus, who also had a hand in the creation of Colonial, and it has proved to be a good pointer since Memorial Park joined the PGA Tour schedule.
But Woodland also has a very solid record in this event.
He was one shot off the 54-hole lead when T9 in 2020, T14 in 2021 and T11 last year.
He’s on a good run of form and can maintain it this week.

Stephan Jaeger Each way
The German is yet to prove himself at Colonial with a missed cut and T68 his only finishes at the course.
But he’s been superb at the Bredemus-crafted Memorial Park.
He was T9 there in 2022, T11 last year, T28 this year, and he claimed his maiden PGA Tour win there in 2024.
He’s also shown signs of form in recent weeks.
He tied the first round lead and was T3 at halfway in the PGA Championship, and also contended in last week’s CJ Cup when finishing T9.

Pierceson Coody Top 20
The 26-year-old has every reason to enjoy this week because he’s born, bred, and educated in the Lone Star State.
He’s proved he’s at home in this tournament, finishing T5 in 2024 and T16 last year after missing the cut on his debut.
Last week’s T19 in The CJ Cup was also his third top 20 in his last five starts in Texas.
And his last 20 completed starts on the PGA Tour have reaped 10 top 20s.
