Celtics Derrick White details construction worker heckling ahead of 76ers’ Game 3

Before a single jump ball is tossed Friday night at Xfinity Mobile Arena, the Boston Celtics are already getting a taste of what Philadelphia has to offer. Guard Derrick White revealed on Friday that construction workers heckled the Celtics outside their hotel as they made their way to the team bus, a quintessentially Philly welcome to the City of Brotherly Love.

“You know what you get here in Philly, and we’ve played a lot of big games in this arena, so we know what to expect,” White said with a laugh. “It’s definitely a fun atmosphere.”

The light-hearted moment comes at a pivotal time for Boston. The Celtics, who dominated Game 1 with a 123-91 blowout, were stunned at home in Game 2 when the 76ers stormed back to win 111-97 and knot the series at 1-1. Now the defending Eastern Conference contenders must navigate one of the most hostile road environments in the NBA with the series suddenly very much in the balance.

White, who was just named the 2025-26 NBA Sportsmanship Award winner, the second consecutive year a Celtic has taken home the Joe Dumars Trophy, averaged 16.5 points, 5.4 assists, and 4.4 rebounds per game this regular season. He’ll be a key piece of Boston’s effort to reclaim control of a series they were expected to handle with relative ease, as the Celtics entered as heavy favorites over the seventh-seeded 76ers.

Philadelphia, for its part, will be playing in front of a raucous home crowd that has been starving for a playoff moment, and clearly, that energy starts well before tip-off. The 76ers are 24-18 at home this season including playoffs, and have already shown they can compete with Boston’s depth and firepower.

Game 3 tips off tonight at 7 p.m. ET at Xfinity Mobile Arena, streaming exclusively on Prime Video. For the Celtics, navigating construction worker trash talk on the way to the bus may be the least of their concerns by the end of the night.
