Carlos Mendoza delusional about Mets season after latest pathetic loss
The New York Mets have lost two games in a row, and both have come against the Seattle Mariners. That doesn’t help their hopes of trying to get back on track, as they’re still at the bottom of the division with a 26-35 record. Though hope may feel lost, manager Carlos Mendoza has stayed optimistic through it all, and after the loss, he was asked if this was becoming too big a hole for the team.
“I don’t think so, but we gotta start playing better. That’s the bottom line. Until we start playing consistent baseball, that’s the only way to get out of it,” Mendoza said.
Things don’t get any better for the Mets on their road trip, as they have a series against the San Diego Padres after their final game against the Padres.
Mendoza is focusing on what his team can control.
“I’m not gonna worry about who we’re playing, whether they’re good or not. We control what we can control, right? Tomorrow we’ve got a quick turnaround and we gotta come back and try to salvage a series here. Not gonna get ahead of myself here. Our job is to come back tomorrow and win a game,” Mendoza said.
There is still time in the season for the Mets to turn things around, but they have to buckle down now if they really want to see some change. For now, they have to take one game at a time, and they might need some help from the teams above them.
