Canadiens fans serenade Kirby Dach after Game 3 goal, Game 2 blunders

Montreal Canadiens forward Kirby Dach did not have a fun time in Game 2 against the Tampa Bay Lightning. He made some mistakes in overtime that nearly directly led to the Lightning winning Game 2 in the extra period. In Game 3, however, the Habs forward received nothing but love.

The Canadiens trailed the Lightning 2-1 in the second period on Friday night. Montreal was putting some pressure on Tampa in the offensive zone, though. Dach received the puck near the boards and fired a shot on goal. It deflected off Lightning defenseman Ryan McDonagh and into the Tampa net to tie this contest.

After the goal, Canadiens fans showered Dach with love. They roared when his name was announced by the PA announcer. And they began chanting his name shortly after that.

Dach has certainly not had the easiest season in 2025-26. He was limited to just 37 games during the regular season as he struggled with injury. Add in the blunders in Game 2, and he has certainly heard a lot of outside noise this campaign.

However, his goal certainly came at the right time. The Canadiens opened the scoring on Friday when Alexandre Texier scored to make it 1-0. But the lead did not last, as Brayden Point tied it in the first. Less than five minutes into the second, Brandon Hagel found the back of the net to give the Lightning the lead.

Montreal is fighting for its first Stanley Cup since 1993. They have not made the Stanley Cup Final since 2021 in a COVID-shortened season. Their last non-COVID appearance in the Final came in 1993 when they defeated Wayne Gretzky and the Los Angeles Kings.
