Caitlin Clark’s injury woes have Rachel Demita demanding firings

The Indiana Fever didn’t have injury luck last season, and the hope is that it doesn’t carry over into this season. Already, Caitlin Clark has missed a game after dealing with a back injury, but head coach Stephanie White says she doesn’t anticipate it being a long-term issue.

This is just another injury added to Clark’s list of issues since last season, and now many are concerned about the Fever star. Some even think that people in the organization should be fired, according to Rachel Demita.

“I don’t know if Caitlin staying with the Indiana fever makes sense. I think If this were an NBA franchise, an NBA organization, people would be fired by now,” Demita said. “This is the face of the league, your franchise player, your star player, who’s never had injuries. People would be fired expeditiously. Even if it’s not the coach’s fault, even if it’s not the training staff’s fault, somebody has to go down for it.”

There was controversy surrounding Clark’s latest injury, as she didn’t appear on the injury report a day before the game. White had an explanation as to why that happened.

“Not everyone that doesn’t practice or gets a pro day is on the injury report, so that happens all the time,” White said. “And she wasn’t listed on the injury report earlier because we expected her to play. … Her back is sore. If there’s anything more detailed than that, that’s the training staff.”

It’s uncertain how long Clark will miss, or if she misses any more time at all, but the hope is that she’ll be good as the season continues. She dealt with several injuries last season that forced her to miss most of the season, and the Fever don’t want that to happen again.
