Bulls reporter suggests draft trade up, but not with No. 4 pick

On Sunday, the Chicago Bulls emerged as one of the big winners of the NBA Draft lottery, lucking into the number four pick in what is expected to be a loaded 2026 draft class. The Bulls are hoping to embrace a new era of success after hiring Bryson Graham to be the new leader of their front office earlier this offseason.

The Bulls also will have the number 15 pick in this draft due to a prior trade, and recently, Will Gottlieb of CHGO Bulls broke down one intriguing maneuver Chicago could use to get another premium talent in this year’s draft.

“Have seen some chatter about the Bulls packaging 15 to move up from 4, but I’d be more interested in moving up from 15 Could they attach 38+some future seconds to get into the 8/9 range to pair a guard with (Cam) Boozer/(Caleb) Wilson?” he wondered on X, formerly Twitter.

As Gottlieb referenced, the Bulls will be expected by many to take either Duke’s Cam Boozer or North Carolina’s Caleb Wilson with the number four pick, after Darryn Peterson, AJ Dybantsa, and either Boozer or Wilson likely go top three. However, moving up from number 15 and back into the lottery could give Chicago a chance to draft an intriguing guard prospect, such as Louisville’s Mikel Brown or Illinois’ Keaton Wagler, to add to their roster.

Such a move would be big in helping accelerate Chicago’s rebuild, although the Bulls do have a bit of a logjam in their backcourt right now that Graham will likely not be too aggressive in adding to.

In any case, the 2026 NBA Draft is slated to get underway in late June, and the Bulls will have plenty of time to make trades prior to that date.
