Brooks Koepka makes birdie with insane driver off the deck on 2nd hole at Masters

It’s Day 2 at the Masters! Cut day for this event is always a stressful time, because every single one of these star golfers wants to play into the weekend at Augusta National for a chance at the biggest glory in the golfing world.

Everyone knows this course is very hard, but the current projected cut is at a shocking +4. Players like Bryson DeChambeau, J.J. Spaun, Jon Rahm, Patrick Cantley, and Bubba Watson are on the wrong end of the projected cut right now, at least +5 or worse. Cameron Smith, Si Woo Kim, and Brian Harmon are +4, needing to finish strong to avoid falling under the line.

Former major winner Brooks Koepka, who is aiming for his first-ever Masters win, is having a great Friday after a decent opening round on Thursday. Koepka shot a 72 on Thursday to finish even for the day. So far on Friday, he is three under par thanks to a massive birdie on the Par 5 2nd to get him going after he bogeyed the tough opening hole.

On the Par 5 2nd, Koepka decided to take the driver out of the bag and hit it off the deck in the slight rough. He launched the ball, setting himself up for an up-and-down for birdie.

Koepka would follow up with a birdie on the 3rd and 5th as well. Things turned rough for Koepka on the 7th and 9th holes, as he usually does not play boring golf. One of his six birdies on the day was in between the two bogeys on the Par 5 8th. The major winner only had two pars on the front nine.

The back nine has been as clean as a whistle so far. Koepka birdied the 12th and 13th holes at the Amen Corner. He now sits at the 14th hole, aiming to sneak higher on the leaderboard. At -3, Koepka is tied for 6th with Shane Lowry, Jason Day, and Patrick Reed.
