Bronny, LeBron James top moments together as Lakers

LeBron James has spent more than two decades building one of basketball’s greatest careers, yet he recently revealed that sharing the NBA floor with his eldest son means more than any championship ring.

Appearing on the “New Heights” podcast with Jason and Travis Kelce, the Los Angeles Lakers star described playing alongside Bronny James as the greatest accomplishment of his life. While his four NBA titles remain defining moments, LeBron said becoming teammates with his 20-year-old son sits above everything else.

“When it comes to the titles, that’s one separate thing but to be able to be in this league… alongside Bronny right now, that’s one of the biggest accomplishments and probably the No. 1 accomplishment I’ve ever been able to do,” LeBron said.

The milestone capped a lifelong dream after the pair became the first father and son to appear together in an NBA game in October 2024. Since then, they have continued adding historic moments to basketball’s record books while strengthening a bond that LeBron admits his playing career sometimes made difficult during Bronny’s childhood.

LeBron Explains Why This Journey Means So Much

Beyond the history, LeBron shared a personal reason why this chapter has become so meaningful.

He explained that watching Bronny develop as a professional player allows him to reclaim time he missed while traveling throughout his own NBA career, ABCnews reports. Instead of watching from afar, he now witnesses his son’s daily work ethic, growth and determination firsthand.

“When it comes to the titles, that’s one separate thing but to be able to be in this league, to play in this league and also being able to do it alongside Bronny right now, that’s one of the biggest accomplishments and probably the No. 1 accomplishment I’ve ever been able to do.”

LeBron also praised Bronny for choosing basketball on his own terms.

According to the Lakers star, Bronny never needed to pursue basketball for financial reasons. Instead, his son continues chasing the sport because he genuinely loves competing and wants to carve out his own career.

LeBron said hearing Bronny declare that basketball represents his own goals and aspirations makes him proud, adding, “I love that kid. He’s awesome.”

First Time Sharing the Court

The first chapter arrived during the Lakers’ 2024-25 season opener against the Minnesota Timberwolves.

With four minutes remaining in the second quarter, LeBron and Bronny checked into the game together, becoming the first father-son duo in NBA history to share an NBA court, ESPN reports.

As they walked toward the scorer’s table, fans inside Crypto.com Arena rose to their feet before erupting once both players removed their warmups.

Following the game, LeBron admitted the moment would stay with him forever, saying he would never forget checking into an NBA game alongside his son.

Bronny, meanwhile, admitted he tried to block out the emotions surrounding his NBA debut and simply focus on playing like any other rookie, although he appreciated the overwhelming support from Lakers fans.

First Father-Son Assist in NBA History

The history continued on March 27, 2026, during a matchup against the Brooklyn Nets.

LeBron attracted a double team before spotting Bronny waiting on the left wing. His pass found the rookie in rhythm, and Bronny knocked down a three-pointer, creating another first.

The basket officially became the NBA’s first father-son assist combination.

After the victory, Bronny reflected on the milestone, calling it “a special moment” while adding that he believes there are many more memories still ahead for the duo.

First Father-Son Playoff Alley-Oop

The postseason delivered another unforgettable highlight.

During Game 3 against the Houston Rockets on April 18, LeBron grabbed a defensive rebound and immediately pushed the ball up the floor in transition. Bronny sprinted down the right side, signaling for the pass before LeBron floated a perfectly timed lob toward the rim.

Bronny elevated, caught the ball cleanly and finished with a smooth reverse left-handed layup.

After scoring, the younger James pointed directly toward his father before the two celebrated another historic sequence together.

LeBron later explained that he recognized Bronny’s stride immediately and trusted him to finish the play.

“He was calling for it,” LeBron said. “I’ve seen his steps for so long… Just go get it!”

The play became the first father-son alley-oop connection in NBA playoff history and added another memorable moment to their growing list of milestones.

A Legacy Still Being Written

Although LeBron owns countless individual accolades and championships, his recent comments suggest this chapter carries a different kind of meaning.

Instead of focusing solely on trophies, he now gets to experience the NBA through another perspective, watching his son chase the same dream while sharing practices, games and locker rooms together.

With history already made through their first game together, their first assist and their first playoff alley-oop, the James family continues building a story unlike any the league has seen. And judging by both LeBron’s pride and Bronny’s determination, those milestones may only represent the beginning.
