Broadcaster and ex-darts star Mark Webster gives health update after announcing break due to medical condition
Former darts star-turned-pundit Mark Webster has provided a health update having taken some time away from the microphone.
The 42-year-old is a constant presence on Sky Sports’ darts coverage, including the World Darts Championship and the Premier League.

Webster was also announced as part of the new-look ITV coverage for events like the World Series, the World Masters, the UK Open, the World Series of Darts Finals, the European Championship and the Players Championship Finals.
However, for a temporary period he will not be on screens as he deals with a condition which has not been disclosed.
Webster’s health update
Following the news of Webster’s medical condition, which broke last week, and his break from punditry duties, he has now given an update on his health.
The Welshman joined the latest episode of Sky Sports’ Love The Darts podcast alongside Michael Bridge and Colin Lloyd.
Webster explained: “Something cropped up and I’m having a bit of treatment and slowly it seems to be working.
“Hopefully in another month it will be reassessed and I’ll be hoping to get back. I’ve missed far too much already and I want to get back.
“At least I get to chat to you guys so it’s nice to sort of be involved.”
Discussing the support he has received from the world of darts, Webster added: “I’ve had some nice messages over social media.
“It’s been really nice and as much as I like watching the darts, it’s not the same as being involved so I’m quite eager to get back.”
Several darts fans were quick to express their well wishes for Webster on social media when the news was announced.

One supporter wrote: “Best wishes Webby.”
Another said: “He will be sorely missed hope it’s a speedy recovery.”
A third added: “Hope he’s okay. Best wishes Webby.”
Webster’s playing career at a glance
Webster, nicknamed ‘The Spider’ during his playing days, enjoyed a dazzling playing career which included a BDO World Championship in 2008.
The 42-year-old scooped up the title with a 7-5 win over Simon Whitlock in the final.
Webster made the jump to the PDC in 2009 and continued to impress, reaching the semi-finals of the opposing corporation’s World Championship in his first entry at the tournament.

The Welshman’s run to the final four earned him a berth in the 2011 Premier League, although he finished eighth in the table having won just twice from 14 matches.
Webster would go on to reach the semi-finals yet again at the PDC World Championship in 2011.
On his way to the penultimate round at the Alexandra Palace, Webster produced the monumental feat of beating Phil Taylor.
Webster knocked ‘The Power’ out in the quarter-finals with a 5-2 victory.
However, he could not back it up in the semi-finals as he was beaten 6-4 by eventual champion Adrian Lewis.
Outside of the World Championship, Webster reached the semi-finals of the 2011 UK Open and the 2015 World Grand Prix.
He was also a two-time World Cup of Darts semi-finalist, where he represented Wales alongside Richie Burnett.
