Hurricanes’ Nikolaj Ehlers scores goal 25 seconds into Stanley Cup Final
The 2026 Stanley Cup Final has officially begun. The Carolina Hurricanes are seeking their first championship since 2006. Meanwhile, Mark Stone and the Vegas Golden Knights want their second championship in the last four seasons. In Game 1, it was Carolina who fired the first shot, and it came almost immediately.
Nikolaj Ehlers carried the puck into the offensive zone early on. Golden Knights defenseman Shea Theodore made an attempt to defend, but it was ill-fated. Ehlers fired a shot on goal, beating Vegas goaltender Carter Hart for the first goal in Game 1.
