Braves’ Ronald Acuña Jr. leaves game with concerning hamstring injury
The Atlanta Braves are hit with concerning injury news, with star outfielder Ronald Acuna Jr. leaving Tuesday night’s contest against the Chicago White Sox with an apparent lower-body issue.
The Braves announced that the former National League Most Valuable Player experienced a hamstring issue in the middle of the game at Rate Field in Chicago, Illinois.
“OF Ronald Acuña Jr. was removed from tonight’s game due to left hamstring tightness,” the Braves’ official X, formerly Twitter account, shared.
Acuna was replaced in the game by Eli White, who went 0-for-2 in Atlanta’s 6-5 loss to the White Sox.
The 28-year-old Acuna appeared to hurt his hamstring while trying to reach first base for a single in the fourth inning. The former Rookie of the Year limped and hobbled as he tried to shake it off, but he was ultimately removed from the game. He was just 0-for-2 at the time of his exit.

Injuries have slowed down Acuna in recent years. It can be recalled that he suffered a season-ending ACL injury in his right knee in 2021.
Then in 2024, he sustained the same injury on his other knee. He underwent surgeries to address both injuries.
He proved he could still play at a high level despite those ACL problems, becoming an All-Star again in 2025, when he hit .290/.417/.518 with 21 home runs and 42 RBIs in 95 games.
Additionally, Acuna went to the injured list in May because of a hamstring injury.
Hopefully for Acuna and Atlanta, his latest hamstring issue will not lead to a long-term absence, especially with the Braves in the middle of putting together a stellar 2026 campaign. Despite the loss to the White Sox in the series opener, Atlanta is head and shoulders ahead of its rivals in the NL East Division, holding a nine-game lead atop the group.
