Braves’ Ronald Acuna Jr. hits IL after MRI reveals severity of hamstring injury
As Atlanta Braves star Ronald Acuna Jr. exited the win over the Colorado Rockies on Saturday, 9-1, there was concern about how severe the injury would be. With fans waiting for any updates about the Braves’ right-fielder, a recent MRI scan has revealed the extent of his hamstring injury.
Atlanta manager Wait Weiss would speak Sunday ahead of the series finale against the Rockies and say that Acuna is dealing with a “Grade 1 strain” that puts the player on the injured list (IL). Weiss would express how it is not too serious, but still enough to warrant a stint on the IL.
“MRI showed a Grade 1 strain,” Weiss said, via BravesVision. “So, not too serious, but serious enough that we had to put him on the list,” Weiss said. “It’s not going to be just a couple days, it’s gonna be more than that, so need to put him on the IL. Hopefully it’ll be sooner than later. No idea what these soft tissue injuries, how long they’re going to take. But I think the silver lining is that the MRI showed it wasn’t too serious.”

Braves’ Walt Weiss worried for Ronald Acuna Jr. at first
This is good news for the Braves, as Weiss seemed more worried about the injury that Acuna sustained at the top of the second inning. After hitting a ground ball and running to first base, he immediately looked hurt out of the break.
“We’ll see the severity of it,” Weiss said, via ESPN. “I didn’t like the way it looked. Ronnie is starting to swing the bat. We’ll see what happens. Hopefully, if he is out, it’ll be short-term.”
“We’re very versatile, but you never like to be challenged like this, losing, if it happens, one of your best players and most talented players,” Weiss continued. “We’ll be OK. We’ll have some moving parts.”

At any rate, Acuna is hitting a .252 batting average to go along with two home runs, nine RBIs, and seven stolen bases through 34 games. It remains to be seen how much time Acuna misses with the hamstring injury.
