Brandon Ingram undergoes heel surgery after disappointing playoff exit
The Toronto Raptors came up short during their playoff run, losing in Game 7 to the Cleveland Cavaliers in their opening round series. To make matters worse, the Raptors were without All-Star wing Brandon Ingram for the final two games of the series as he re-aggravated a heel injury he initially sustained during the regular season.
As it turns out, Brandon Ingram ultimately needed surgery to repair the heel injury, and the Raptors wing underwent a successful procedure this week, as per Blake Murphy of Sportsnet. He is expected to be ready in time for training camp for the 2026-27 season.
Ingram was a driving force behind the Raptors’ strong season, a season in which they snapped their drought of three consecutive seasons of missing the playoffs. He finished up his first full season with the team after being acquired via trade at the deadline during the 2024-25 season.
Ingram appeared in 77 games this season, the most he’s played since his rookie year in 2016-17. He averaged 21.5 points, 5.6 rebounds and 3.7 assists with splits of 47.7 percent shooting from the field, 38.2 percent shooting from the 3-point line and 82 percent shooting from the free-throw line.
During the five games Ingram appeared in during the postseason, he averaged 12.0 points, 3.2 rebounds and 2.2 assists with splits of 32.8 percent shooting from the field, 38.5 percent shooting from the 3-point line and 73.9 percent shooting from the free-throw line.
Ingram was selected to his second career All-Star appearance this season. He will be entering his 11th NBA season in 2026-27. Following the trade with the New Orleans Pelicans last season, Ingram immediately signed a three-year contract extension with the Raptors, carrying him through the 2027-28 season.
