Bears signing former Buccaneers Super Bowl-winning wide receiver
It may be the offseason, but the Chicago Bears are making moves. On Saturday, it was announced that they were signing free-agent wide receiver Scotty Miller to a one-year deal, per Adam Schefter of ESPN. His agents, Drew Rosenhaus and Robert Bailey, negotiated the deal, and the terms of the contract remain unknown.
Miller is coming off playing with the Pittsburgh Steelers from 2024 to 2025. In 2025, Miller finished the season with nine receptions and 62 yards. He has been in the league since 2019, coming out of Bowling Green as the 208th overall pick by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in the 6th round of that year’s NFL Draft.
In his first year, Miller played in 10 games with 13 receptions for 200 yards. The following year, Miller started in five games, caught 33 passes for 501 yards and three touchdowns. In 2021, the Buccaneers, led by Tom Brady, won Super Bowl LV, 31-9, over the Kansas City Chiefs.
Miller would play for the Buccaneers until 2022, when he was traded to the Atlanta Falcons. In 2023, Miller played in all 17 games and recorded 11 receptions for 161 yards and 2 touchdowns.
After one year, Miller signed a one-year contract with the Steelers in May 2024.
The Bears are coming off a season in which they went 12-5 and won the NFC North. They made it all the way to the NFC Divisional Round in the first full season under head coach Ben Johnson.
Miller brings a depth of veteran experience and speed abilities, who can excel in deep routes. Also, Miller reunites with his former Chicago receiving coach, Antwaan Randle El, whom he played under with the Bucs.
