Bears’ Caleb Williams calls out ‘liars’ who claim they don’t hear haters
The Chicago Bears have been participating in offseason workouts recently as they gear up for the 2026 NFL season. The Bears are looking to build off the success of last season, when Caleb Williams and Ben Johnson led them on a surprise run to the divisional round of the NFC playoffs.
Williams was recently named the cover athlete for the latest edition of the “Madden” video game franchise, a decision that drew some backlash from detractors of Williams’ game.
Recently, the star spoke on how he deals with the haters that come with being a high-profile NFL player.
“You can’t not see them, so all of the people that say that (they don’t hear haters) are liars,” said Williams, per Barstool Sports on X, formerly Twitter.
Williams also spoke on if he thinks announcers can be too harsh on him and other players at times.
“Not going to say any names on here, but there are times when I go back and I listen… there’s reporters and there’s announcers or whatever you want to call them that I remember, and sometimes I shake their hand a little bit harder when I see them in person,” he said.
Williams has been dealing with critics since his days as a college star quarterback at USC, where he won the Heisman Trophy and went on to become the number one overall pick in the NFL Draft. While his NFL career got off to a bit of a rocky start, there was never any doubt about his talent level, and Johnson helped him eliminate many of the mistakes of his rookie season last year.
Williams will look to take a step forward into legit MVP contention in the upcoming 2026 season, which is slated to get underway in early September.
