The Bangladesh Cricket Board has reached out to the BCCI in search for avenues for improved bilateral partnerships between the two cricket boards.

The relations between the two boards came under scrutiny when Bangladesh player Mustafizur Rahman was banned from participating in the 2026 IPL for the Kolkata Knight Riders, owing to socio-political tensions in the country.

This subsequently led to Bangladesh pulling out of the 2026 T20 World Cup, refusing to play in India due to security concerns. The World Cup went on, with Scotland taking Bangladesh’s place in the tournament.

A meeting took place among the members of the BCB under the supervision of President Aminul Islam Bulbul. One of the board directors, Nazmul Abedin Fahim, confirmed that an email has been sent to the BCCI, in an attempt to enhance bilateral communication.

“We maintain regular communication with various countries’ cricket boards. As part of that regular communication, we recently reached out to the Board of Control for Cricket in India via a letter, through an email, to communicate with them”, Fahim said, as reported by Indian Express.

Fahim further added that such communications are common, with this instance further discussing the Indian team’s tour to Bangladesh in September, followed by the women’s team tour. The email also mentions exploring further opportunities to improve bilateral relations.

Bangladesh just wrapped up a successful home ODI series against Pakistan, following the culmination of the T20 World Cup. They won the three-match series by a 2-1 margin, with Tanzid Hasan picking up the player of the tournament award with 175 runs, including a sublime 107 in the decider. Nahid Rana started the series off for Bangladesh in fiery fashion, picking up a five-wicket haul, as they skittled Pakistan out for 114. Rana finished as the leading wicket taker in the series.

Bangladesh are set to host New Zealand in a white-ball series, with the first ODI set to start on April 17.
