Bayern chief drops Harry Kane release clause revelation as he enters last 18 months of contract
Bayern Munich’s honorary president Uli Hoeness has revealed that Harry Kane’s release clause will expire at the end of January.
The Englishman is out of contract with the German giants in 2027, while reports of a release clause have sparked speculation he could depart the club next summer.

German outlet Bild previously reported that Kane’s current deal contains a £57million release clause which comes into effect next summer.
The publication claimed the striker could leave Bayern next summer at a cut price – as long as he states his intention to leave before the end of the upcoming January transfer window.
He has been in red-hot form for the Bundesliga champions this season, with a staggering 24 goals in just 20 games.
This combination of factors has seen Kane linked with a number of top European clubs, most recently Barcelona.
Bayern boost
Fresh details have now emerged about the terms of Kane’s contract, with Bayern chief Hoeness sharing a key piece of information.
Speaking at a recent ‘Power Days’ event in Munich’s Olympic Hall, the club icon revealed the 32-year-old’s release clause will cease to exist beyond January and is optimistic that he will extend his current deal.
Hoeness told Bild: “He (Harry Kane) has a release clause every year until the end of January.
“We assume that he will definitely fulfil his contract until 2027. And if it were up to us – and I’ve heard it’s up to him too – then he’ll extend it.
“His family is very happy. In Munich, you can still go about your business in peace.
“Harry Kane only ever worked with bodyguards back home (in London). I don’t necessarily need that kind of life.”

Hoeness’ update will come as great news to Bayern fans, with Kane facing constant speculation over his next move since he joined the Bavarians in 2023.
What has Harry Kane said about his future?
Kane himself has done his utmost to reassure supporters he intends to remain in Bavaria, although he has stopped short of signing a new deal with the German giants.
While previous reports of a contract clause saw him linked with a Premier League return next summer, the England skipper has more recently been linked with Barcelona.
The Spanish giants were said to be keen on him as a potential replacement for Robert Lewandowski, whose contract expires in June.
However, Kane emphatically quashed any talk of this ahead of his side’s 3-1 defeat to Arsenal in the Champions League last week.
Speaking to the press beforehand, he said: “The move to Bayern was one of the best decisions of my life. I’m happy here. I’m open to staying longer.

“We will have discussions about a possible new contract in the coming months.
“I have just over 18 months left on my contract. I’m sure there will be talks soon.”
Having already distanced himself from Barcelona rumours, Kane then poured water on this further in an interview released earlier on the same day.
Speaking to Bild, Kane denied any talks with Barcelona, saying: “I haven’t had any contact with anyone, nobody has contacted me.
“I feel very comfortable in the current situation, even though we haven’t yet discussed my situation with Bayern.
“There’s no rush. I’m really happy in Munich. You can see that in the way I’m playing. If there’s contact, then we’ll see.

“But I’m not thinking about the new season yet. First up is the World Cup in the summer. And it’s very unlikely that anything will change after this season.”
When asked if Bayern supporters should be worried about him leaving, he added: “No, I don’t think so.”
Since joining Bayern from Tottenham in 2023, Kane has continued to prove himself as one of football’s deadliest goalscorers.
He has now netted 109 goals in 116 appearances in just over two seasons with the club, and helped them to Bundesliga glory last season.
