Knicks staging Tonight Show ‘takeover’ after championship win

Just days after winning the NBA Finals, the reigning champion New York Knicks will be taking over The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon.

On Monday, June 15, 2026, the Knicks will be on The Tonight Show. The episode will air at 11:35 pm EST on NBC, so fans will have to stay up late to catch it. Jalen Brunson, Karl-Anthony Towns, OG Anunoby, Mikal Bridges, and Josh Hart, the team’s starting five, will all be there. The Tonight Show also said that “the rest” of the team would be there too. The Wu-Tang Clan will also appear as musical guests.

“IT’S A [Knicks] TAKEOVER!” The Tonight Show’s official X, formerly Twitter, wrote. “Tune in tomorrow, 6/15, to see [Jalen Brunson], [Karl-Anthony Towns], OG Anunoby, Mikal Bridges, Josh Hart, the rest of the Knicks team & more to celebrate their big win for an hourlong show!”

The studio audience will also be filled with “Knicks superfans,” making it a perfect celebratory occasion before the team’s parade on Thursday, June 18.

On Saturday, June 13, 2026, the Knicks won their first championship in 53 years. They closed out the series in San Antonio against the Spurs, beating them in five games.

This flipped the switch from the Knicks’ last NBA Finals appearance in 1999. New York lost to San Antonio in five games in 1999, marking the Spurs’ first of five championships.

Game 5 wasn’t always pretty. The Knicks were held to 13 points in the first quarter and 37 total in the first half. However, the Spurs could not put them away. Ultimately, New York outscored San Antonio 57-48 in the second half after being down by five points at halftime.

Jalen Brunson won Finals MVP for his performance. In Game 5, he scored 45 points and made over half of his shots. During the five-game Finals, he averaged 32.6 points, 4.2 rebounds, and 4.6 assists per game.
