Bare-knuckle boxer gets instantly disqualified for using MMA move in bloody main event war

The Bare Knuckle Fighting Championship (BKFC) has witnessed some wild moments during its rise.

From horrific broken jaws to a fighter playing chess between rounds, fans of the surging bare-knuckle league, part-owned by returning UFC superstar Conor McGregor, have been treated to quite some spectacles over the years.

But it’s hard to think of something similar to the head-scratching decision BKFC star Julian Lane made during his main event bout on Thursday.

‘I’m not sure what that was about’

Lane faced fellow American Bryce Henry, the aforementioned chess player, in the headline bout of BKFC Hollywood and briefly forgot the sport he found himself in.

With blood pouring from a nasty cut on his forehead in the fourth round of five, Lane revisited his MMA routes and grabbed his opponent with both hands to secure a double leg takedown.

Henry crashed to the canvas with a thud as the referee came rushing in to separate Lane, who was arguably three rounds up by this point, from his opponent.

“I’m not sure what that was about,” one of the bemused commentators said during the broadcast.

The official called a timeout as Henry lay flat on his back, and boos echoed around the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino.

Seconds later, the fight was waved off with Henry seemingly unfit to continue, and Lane was subsequently disqualified.

Lane looked raging, but some fans found it hard to sympathise with the 38-year-old after he broke the rules.

Other BFKC fans argued Henry may have been ‘looking for a way out’ and Lane should’ve simply been deducted one point – but the former was nonetheless crowned the winner and remains undefeated in the promotion.

“I mean, look at his face! I f***ed his face completely up,” Henry said after his victory.

“Check me out, that’s all his blood. He can’t f*** with me, nobody at 155lbs, 165lbs can f*** with me.

“He was easy, but he just had to cheat to win.”

The Hollywood show was BKFC’s latest Fight Night card, following a blockbuster event in Birmingham this past weekend.

Former UFC welterweight title challenger Darren Till made his debut on the BKFC 90 card, knocking out Aaron Chalmers with one punch after being dropped in the first round.

Ahead of the event, BKFC founder Dave Feldman told talkSPORT.com that he plans to launch a whopping $25million tournament at the beginning of 2027.

Till is set to headline an historic show in Manchester next to continue a busy period in the sport.
