Astros rumors: Ken Rosenthal drops names of potential trade candidates
The Houston Astros are likely not going to trade Yordan Alvarez. The Astros have dealt with injuries and underperformance this season, however, and the ball club could still end up selling at the trade deadline. MLB insider Ken Rosenthal recently shared names of Astros players who could possibly be moved if the team does sell at the trade deadline.
“Isaac Paredes, he would be the most obvious if they are out of contention,” Rosenthal said, via FOX Sports: MLB. “Josh Hader and Christian Walker, they would be two others who would draw interest, but both have really high salaries. So that would limit the returns and Hader also has a full no-trade clause.”
Paredes would likely draw a significant return if traded. Hader and Walker could as well, but the salaries and Hader’s no-trade clause are worth remembering.
Rosenthal also revealed a player who could be traded during the offseason.
“And then this is the one to keep in mind, maybe not so much for the deadline but the offseason, Jeremy Pena,” Rosenthal added. “Jeremy Pena is an eligible free agent after next season, after 2027. So come this offseason, he will be in the same position Kyle Tucker was a few months back, and remember what they did with Kyle Tucker, they traded him.”
The Astros certainly have decisions to make. Houston is currently in last place in the American League West standings, but the ball club could potentially compete for a Wild Card spot. The division is also not out of the question.
