The Milwaukee Brewers are on the verge of their first-ever World Series championship after belting the Tampa Bay Rays 10-1 at Tropicana Field in St. Petersburg in Game 3 on Monday night.

Milwaukee collected 16 hits, while Tampa Bay had just three, which was a stunning performance given that the Rays were basically facing a must-win situation. And, Rays DH Yandy Diaz went 2 for 4 with a double and an RBI, serving as the only bright spot for the home side.

The Brewers didn’t have any home runs, but they had four extra-base hits, all doubles, while three Milwaukee batters had three or more hitters. LF Jackson Chourio went 4 for 5 with a double, two runs scored and an RBI out of the leadoff spot, while William Contreras was 3 for 5 with a run scored and RBI, while 2B Brice Turang was 3 for 5 with a double, run scored and two RBI.

Chourio’s four-hit game was historic, too, as the 22-year-old is the youngest player since Joe Garagiola in 1946.

Milwaukee had eight runs scored in the fifth inning, and all of those runs came with two outs to absolutely crush the spirit of Tampa Bay. It’s hard to envision it recovering from that.

My 16-year-old son is all about baseball, and he played for his high school team in North Carolina this past season. He can’t get enough baseball, and we’re going to head over to Wilson Warbirds Stadium, as the Class A affiliate of the Brewers is hosting a watch party for Game 4 on the left field scoreboard. The organization is trying to drum up fan support around the nation, creating minor-league affiliate unity. It’s a smart move, and I’ll be wearing my ‘Cerveceros’ shirt to back the Brew Crew.

I’m not a bandwagon fan, by the way. I am a Florida Atlantic University alumni, and Milwaukee manager Pat Murphy played baseball for the Owls. So, that’s what I’m all about there.

Game 4 Picks

The Rays will turn to RHP Griffin Jax to try and extend their season. He went just 8-10 with a 3.53 ERA and 1.18 WHIP across 23 starts and 11 relief appearances in the regular season, although he did strike out 116 batters in just 112.1 IP. You might remember Jax from the ALCS against the Cleveland Guardians, as he was the victim of the Petey Halpin epic home run bat flip in Game 3.

While the Brewers haven’t announced a starter at the time of publishing, I’ll take BREWERS (-136) to complete the sweep, as it’s just impossible to envision the Rays coming back from a debilitating Game 3 loss.

In addition, let’s go UNDER 7.5 RUNS (-142), as Milwaukee could have some nerves trying to win that fourth game to clinch its first-ever World Championship, and Tampa Bay could have some nerves, too, with its back up against the wall.
