The Los Angeles Angels have not reached the postseason since 2014. Angels fans haven't seen winning baseball in a long time. Two-time All-Star Darin Erstad knows a thing or two about winning, though, as he played a significant role in helping the Angels win their only World Series championship in franchise history back in 2002. The Angels will not be bringing Kurt Suzuki back as manager, so would Erstad be open to the position if it was offered to him? He was asked that question during an appearance on HaloTerritory.

“I mean, I'm open to whatever,” Erstad said. “Who knows what the future holds. Obviously love the game of baseball… I just keep an open mind to everything. Who knows what the day will bring? Just going to try and live in the moment and enjoy every second.”

When asked if he's had any contact with the Angels recently, Erstad said, “Not recently, no. But I've had opportunities in the past. For one reason or another it just didn't work out… No, I have not heard anything from them recently.”

The Angels will consider a number of candidates before hiring their next manager. Erstad is familiar with the organization and would be a reasonable candidate for the position. The fact that he said he hasn't heard anything from the team recently cannot be ignored, but that could change this offseason. Only time will tell.

In addition to being a World Series champion and two-time All-Star, Erstad — who played first base and outfield — earned three Gold Gloves and one Silver Slugger Award. He spent 11 seasons in Anaheim with the Angels before playing the final three years of his big league career with the Houston Astros and Chicago White Sox.
