Philadelphia Eagles left guard Landon Dickerson blamed himself for Monday night's 38-21 loss to the Dallas Cowboys at Lincoln Financial Field.
The 28-year-old made his first start in five weeks after recovering from a bone bruise in his right knee. However, his return could not prevent Philadelphia from suffering its fifth consecutive loss, with Dallas dominating the final 43 minutes and outscoring the Eagles 28-7 during that stretch.
Dickerson was particularly frustrated with two plays late in the fourth quarter. Trailing 31-21 with just over six minutes remaining, Philadelphia needed a scoring drive to keep its comeback hopes alive. Instead, defensive tackle Quinnen Williams beat Dickerson on consecutive snaps, first forcing quarterback Tanner McKee to scramble for a one-yard gain before recording an eight-yard sack.
Dickerson also accidentally knocked Williams into McKee's legs during the sack. The Eagles subsequently failed to convert on fourth down, surrendering possession before the Cowboys scored again.
Dickerson allowed four quarterback pressures against the Cowboys, according to Pro Football Focus.
“I'll f***ing hate myself for 24 hours and get over it, get back to practice,” said Dickerson postgame.
The three-time Pro Bowler also dealt with a pectoral injury heading into Monday's contest but reportedly felt physically fine after returning to action. Philadelphia's offensive line showed some positive signs, helping the team accumulate 121 rushing yards and two touchdowns. The Eagles also amassed more first-half rushing yards than they had managed across their previous two games combined.
Article Continues BelowDickerson praised center Drew Kendall, who played alongside him after taking over the position during his absence, describing Kendall's performance as phenomenal.
Nevertheless, Dickerson remained focused on correcting his own mistakes rather than the team's broader defensive problems, which contributed to the defeat.
With Philadelphia's losing streak now at five games, Dickerson will look to move past his costly fourth-quarter mistakes and help the Eagles recover against the Washington Commanders in Week 8.
