The Michigan football team has had a roller coaster of a season this year. The Wolverines lost on the final play of the game on Saturday to Iowa, in a Big Ten matchup. Michigan football head coach Kyle Whittingham had just four words to say as his team lost.

Michigan lost to Iowa, 20-19 on a walk-off touchdown. The Wolverines lost their first game of the season, although most analysts believe Michigan should have lost the season opener to Western Michigan.

Whittingham says his team has to move on quickly from this defeat.
Article Continues Below“It was a tough locker room, but told them, hey, it's a shame we let it get away from us,” Whittingham said postgame, per ESPN. “Sometimes in life, you get knocked down and things seem tough and how are you going to overcome that, but that's life. You have to pick yourself up, get back to work.”
The Wolverines had a 19-14 lead with just a few seconds left in the game. Iowa scored a touchdown on a 16-yard pass play to win as time expired.
“It wasn't looking good there in the fourth quarter, certainly,” Iowa coach Kirk Ferentz said. “But one thing about these guys, though, they don't quit. They fight. It wasn't perfect, but they don't give up.”
The Wolverines dealt themselves a lot of self-inflicted wounds in the game. Michigan committed eight penalties, for 75 yards. Wolverines quarterback Bryce Underwood also threw an interception in the contest.
Whittingham is in his first season coaching the Wolverines. He previously coached at Utah, where he built the Utes into a national power. His first Michigan team is 3-1, including a win this year over Oklahoma.
Michigan next plays at Minnesota on October 3.
