The Las Vegas Aces are set to enter the WNBA playoffs as the No. 3 seed after beating the Phoenix Mercury 100-82. But A’ja Wilson was all over the internet for her pre-game collision with a woman in the tunnel.
Before the Aces’ regular-season finale win over the Mercury at Footprint Center, Wilson was part of the team’s high-energy run onto the court. As the Aces moved through the entry curtains, an arena staffer wearing a headset stepped into the path at the wrong moment.
Wilson’s 6-foot-4 frame collided with the woman, sending her to the floor. Wilson and her teammates immediately stopped to check on her, and the staffer quickly got back to her feet and indicated that she was OK.
The memes also reached Wilson quickly. NBA stars Jalen Brunson and Josh Hart made sure she saw the reactions and different angles circulating online. Wilson laughed about the attention while making it clear that her first concern was whether the staffer was OK.
“Jalen Brunson and Josh Hart [were] keeping me in the loop the whole time, which is crazy,” Wilson said with a laugh. “They sent me the other angle, they sent me everything. I'm like, ‘y'all, please.’”

Wilson carried the same energy onto the court and finished with 34 points on 16-of-28 shooting, 10 rebounds, four assists and a steal in 35 minutes.
The performance closed out a standout regular season for Wilson, who won the WNBA scoring title after averaging 26.2 points per game. The Aces finished 31-13 and secured the No. 3 seed.
Las Vegas now turns its attention to the playoffs, with the Aces set to face Caitlin Clark and the No. 6 Indiana Fever in Game 1 of the first round at Michelob ULTRA Arena. Tip-off is scheduled for 10 a.m. PDT on ABC.
