The New York Yankees are getting ready for another return trip to the Major League Baseball Playoffs. New York is dealing with a plethora of injuries as the playoffs start. The Bronx Bombers are working out a plan on how to address the starting pitching for the postseason.

“The Yankees are expected to start Max Fried in Game 1 and Cy Young favorite Cam Schlittler in Game 2 of the wild-card series against the Red Sox, which still allows Schlittler to pitch Games 2 and 5 in a potential ALDS,” USA Today's Bob Nightengale wrote on Sunday.

The Yankees will be playing a postseason series against their bitter rival, the Boston Red Sox. New York didn't win the American League East this season, despite being one of the best teams in the AL. The Tampa Bay Rays ended up winning the division.

New York will hope their starters can lift the team to a Wild Card series win over the Red Sox. Boston and New York have battled plenty of times in the postseason.

“I’ve been watching Red Sox-Yankees since I was a kid. It’s Red Sox-Yankees,” Red Sox manager Chad Tracy said, per MLB.com. “It’s no secret as far as the rivalry that has existed over the years for a very long time. That’s obvious to everybody. I know there’s always a little extra when those two teams meet. Beyond that, I’m not putting much more into that other than just preparing and getting ready for that series.”

New York is 93-68 on the season. The Yankees play their final regular season game on Sunday, against the Baltimore Orioles. The Bronx Bombers will finish the regular season second in the AL East.
