A'ja Wilson has once again put together a strong season, and it's led the Las Vegas Aces star to win the Associated Press' WNBA Player of the Year for the third year in a row. There seemed to be no doubt that she would win the award, after receiving 15 of the 17 votes needed from the national panel. Reese spoke about winning the award in a phone interview.

“It's big. It's an honor for me to do it three times in a row. It's not easy,” Wilson said. “My counterparts in this league are really good. I don't take it lightly because of how much talent we do have in this league.”

This is the fourth time that she's won the award, which broke the tie with Breanna Stewart. This season, Wilson led the league in scoring with 26.2 points per game, while averaging 9.4 rebounds, 3.2 assists and 1.9 blocks. The blocks led the league as well, but she didn't win the AP Defensive Player of the Year this time around after taking the honor the past three of the four seasons.

It was Angel Reese who walked away with that honor after the strong year she's had on that side of the ball with the Atlanta Dream. Reese was third in steals this season and led the league in rebounds for the third straight season.

Wilson, Stewart, Olivia Miles, Kelsey Mitchell and Caitlin Clark were part of the AP All-WNBA first team. Reese, Rhyne Howard, Jackie Young, Paige Bueckers and Gabby Williams were named to the second team.
