With a Las Vegas Aces vs. Indiana Fever opening-round 2026 WNBA Playoff matchup scheduled, a lot of eyes will be on the league's premiere clash of titans. Ahead of the Aces-Fever game, we'll be making our WNBA Playoff predictions.
It is hard to argue that the Las Vegas Aces are not far and away one of the standard-bearers of modern women's basketball greatness. With the New York Liberty, Minnesota Lynx, and Golden State Valkyries very rarely showing signs of slowing down thus far into 2026, the Aces have locked down the No. 3 seed.
With the Aces most recently making another deep push, it is the surging Indiana Fever up next for Las Vegas in the opening round. The young challengers, though, are led by a generational talent in Caitlin Clark. She has completely changed how floor spacing and tempo are treated. Because Las Vegas features the unstoppable interior force of A'ja Wilson, and with Indiana serving as one of the most electric, high-paced offenses in the league this season, look for both superstars to put on quite a show in this series.
If the Aces can take a 1-0 lead on the home floor with a win over the Fever, it will be all but over for Indiana's upset hopes in this best-of-three series. Nevertheless, let's move on to our Aces-Fever predictions.

If the 2026 WNBA postseason were to end today, Wilson would enter it as perhaps the most imposing individual matchup in the field. The four-time MVP and three-time WNBA champion has been virtually unstoppable throughout the regular season. She leads the league in scoring and blocks while producing 13 games with at least 30 points. Those include a 45-point stunner against Connecticut back in May. That makes a 40-point eruption against Indiana far from an outrageous prediction.
The Fever will have to balance protecting the paint against Wilson while remaining disciplined enough to close out Las Vegas' perimeter shooters. Any hesitation could open the door for Wilson to attack mismatches and dominate the offensive glass. Expect Becky Hammon to keep feeding her centerpiece whenever Indiana struggles to contain the Aces' half-court actions.
Fever stars in double-figures
Indiana's offensive identity is built around more than Clark. That balance will be critical against Las Vegas. Caitlin Clark and Kelsey Mitchell combined to average 47.0 points per game during the regular season. Meanwhile, Boston added 16.1 points and 8.0 rebounds per contest. That trio reaching double-figures is therefore a reasonable expectation. That's particularly true if the Aces devote extra attention to Clark.
Las Vegas will undoubtedly attempt to make Clark work for every clean look. Of course, that strategy creates opportunities for Mitchell to attack closeouts and Boston to punish smaller lineups. The Fever have already demonstrated their ability to overwhelm the Aces offensively. Indiana scored 84 and 109 points in their first two meetings, which the Fever won, before Las Vegas responded with an overtime victory in August.

Clark has spent much of the season navigating defensive schemes specifically designed to take her down.. And yet, the result has still been an offense capable of producing historic numbers. Indiana's record-setting scoring average is evidence of how much pressure Clark puts on opposing defenses.
A 30-point, 15-assist performance would require virtually everything to click. If Las Vegas aggressively traps Clark, she will have opportunities to make rapid-fire reads and generate open shots for teammates. If the Aces stay home on shooters, Clark can attack the paint and score.
This does not necessarily require Indiana to win. Even with Clark producing a spectacular individual line, Las Vegas has enough firepower and experience to survive a historic night from the Fever guard.
A'ja Wilson carries Aces in three
The Aces' path to victory should ultimately revolve around making Indiana's offense less comfortable rather than simply trying to outscore the Fever. Las Vegas has won seven straight entering the postseason. They own home-court advantage in this best-of-three series.
The key will be what happens after Clark gives up the ball. If Las Vegas can disrupt passing lanes and prevent Boston from establishing an interior rhythm, the Fever's historic offense becomes much easier to manage. Wilson's presence behind the first line of defense is equally important. That's because she can erase mistakes at the rim while remaining a major scoring threat herself.
Indiana did win the regular-season series 2-1, including two emphatic victories. This is hardly a matchup without answers for the Fever. Still, the playoffs demand a different level of execution. With the Aces playing at home and carrying championship experience, expect Las Vegas to make the necessary defensive adjustments. The Aces will withstand Clark's brilliance and eventually win the series in three games.
